Dental Insurance Coordinator
Part-Time Dental Insurance Coordinator. This crucial position supports our commitment to providing exceptional dental care by efficiently managing dental insurance processes and patient billing. Please note that this opportunity is not eligible for remote work initially, but there may be a possibility to transition to remote work after three months based on performance and business needs.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the seamless operation of insurance and billing aspects of our practice, maintaining compliance with industry standards, and ensuring that patients are well-informed about their insurance benefits and financial responsibilities. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in dental insurance processes and a proactive approach to practice management.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Accurately submit dental claims electronically, using proper Current Dental Terminology (CDT) codes to avoid delays or denials of claims.
- Post and reconcile insurance payments, Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), and adjustments accurately to maintain up-to-date patient accounts and financial records.
- Meticulously follow up on unpaid, delayed, or denied claims, ensuring that issues are resolved in a timely manner to maintain cash flow and revenue cycle efficiency.
- Manage appeals and correction processes for denied claims, applying thorough knowledge of dental insurance guidelines and policies.
- Coordinate benefits (COB) when applicable, to optimize resource utilization and benefit coverage for our patients.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with patients regarding their insurance benefits, estimated out-of-pocket costs, and provide clarification on billing queries.
- Efficiently collect co-pays, deductibles, and any outstanding balances at the time of service as needed, ensuring financial policies are upheld.
- Set up and manage patient payment plans in accordance with office policy, facilitating affordability and adherence to treatment plans.
- Utilize Open Dental practice management software to maintain accurate and organized records of all insurance and patient account transactions.
Requirements
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in dental billing and insurance coordination, demonstrating a proven track record of managing comprehensive dental insurance processes.
- Strong knowledge of various dental insurance plans, particularly PPOs, and familiarity with their claims processing and reimbursement protocols.
- Experience with Open Dental or similar dental practice management software is preferred, highlighting proficiency in utilizing digital tools to enhance workflow efficiency.
- Outstanding attention to detail and organizational skills, ensuring accuracy in all aspects of billing and insurance coordination.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of explaining complex insurance details to patients in a clear and empathetic manner.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced dental office environment.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving, capable of anticipating and addressing issues related to dental insurance and patient accounts before they escalate.
