Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct initial dental assessments and consult with dentists on patient care.
- Clean and help protect patients’ teeth (e.g., removing plaque or applying fluoride).
- Educate patients on oral health and various treatment options.
- Assess patient oral hygiene and overall health, identifying areas of concern.
- Update patient records and document patient care services.
- Maintain sterilization of instruments and adherence to infection control procedures.
- Coordinate with dental assistants and other staff to ensure optimal patient care.
- Stay current with advancements in the field of dentistry and dental hygiene.
- Perform preventive dental care to help protect the oral health of patients.
- Engage in community outreach activities to promote oral health.
Requirements
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene from an accredited program.
- Current state license as a Registered Dental Hygienist with CPR certification.
- Excellent understanding of dental hygiene procedures.
- Knowledge of legal regulations and best practice in dental hygiene.
- Proficient in the use of modern dental technology and software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to maintain effective rapport with patients and other staff members.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Possess a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude towards patients.
- Experience in a relevant role is preferred but not mandatory for the right candidate with a strong willingness to learn and adapt.
