Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial dental assessments and consult with dentists on patient care.
  • Clean and help protect patients’ teeth (e.g., removing plaque or applying fluoride).
  • Educate patients on oral health and various treatment options.
  • Assess patient oral hygiene and overall health, identifying areas of concern.
  • Update patient records and document patient care services.
  • Maintain sterilization of instruments and adherence to infection control procedures.
  • Coordinate with dental assistants and other staff to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Stay current with advancements in the field of dentistry and dental hygiene.
  • Perform preventive dental care to help protect the oral health of patients.
  • Engage in community outreach activities to promote oral health.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene from an accredited program.
  • Current state license as a Registered Dental Hygienist with CPR certification.
  • Excellent understanding of dental hygiene procedures.
  • Knowledge of legal regulations and best practice in dental hygiene.
  • Proficient in the use of modern dental technology and software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to maintain effective rapport with patients and other staff members.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Possess a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude towards patients.
  • Experience in a relevant role is preferred but not mandatory for the right candidate with a strong willingness to learn and adapt.
