We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and dependable Special Needs Support Worker to provide high-quality, individualized care and assistance to individuals with intellectual, developmental, and/or physical disabilities. This position focuses on supporting clients in their everyday lives—both at home and in the community—by helping them achieve greater independence, dignity, and social inclusion. Daily responsibilities include assisting with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding; performing light housekeeping duties and meal preparation; providing medication reminders; and offering support in mobility and other health-related needs. In addition to home care, the Support Worker will also accompany clients to medical appointments, community events, recreational activities, educational programs, errands, and social outings, helping to ensure they remain actively involved and engaged in their communities. The role may also include teaching or reinforcing life skills such as cooking, budgeting, time management, and appropriate social behaviors.
This position requires the ability to build trusting relationships with clients and their families, work effectively as part of a care team, follow individualized care and behavior support plans, and respond appropriately to a variety of emotional and behavioral needs. Patience, empathy, emotional resilience, and strong problem-solving skills are crucial, especially when handling challenging behaviors or crisis situations in a calm, professional manner. Candidates should be reliable, organized, and comfortable working independently as well as under supervision. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are typically required to assist with community integration. Previous experience in a caregiving, direct support, or special education setting is highly valued, but not always required. Training may be provided for the right individual with a strong work ethic and genuine interest in supporting people with special needs.
This role is ideal for someone who finds deep meaning in helping others, who believes in promoting inclusion and human dignity, and who wants to make a lasting, positive impact in the lives of individuals and families. Flexible hours may be available, including full-time, part-time, and weekend shifts, depending on client needs.
