We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about creating elegant, robust, and scalable applications. Our DevOps team owns mission-critical aspects of a rapidly growing product. What You'll Be Doing 

  • Create deployment strategies and keep critical infrastructure up and running
  • Perform infrastructure migrations including database migrations, infrastructure/account cut-overs, DNS/networking configuration changes
  • Responsible for designing and implementing a load testing system that tests the company's entire infrastructure to validate large numbers of simultaneous users
  • Responsible for designing and implementing auto-scaling policies across multiple ecosystems within our infrastructure to match demand
  • Responsible for creating financial forecasts for infrastructure costs
  • Responsible for identifying highest-cost services and suggesting and implementing optimization strategies to minimize cost while maintaining performance
  • Substantially helping with the design of secrets management and application of cybersecurity best practices across our infrastructure
  • Implement a comprehensive enterprise VPN solution to enable secure remote access for all employees with multi-factor authentication, endpoint security validation, and centralized management capabilities.
  • Provide engineering mentorship for other team members and continually raise the bar for our engineering standards
  • Contribute ideas for what we should be building next to support our product, business, and infrastructure scalability goals
  • Manage communication with cloud resellers/wholesalers and track cloud spend and validate that what's being billed is what is actually used.

What You'll Need

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering, or related field and two (2) years of experience in the job offered, Cloud Architect, Backend Engineer, or related role.
  • Must have a Permanent Employee Registration Card license
  • Fluency in Bash, Python, Go, or similar scripting/programming languages for automation
  • Strong understanding of data pipeline architecture, ETL processes, and real-time data processing infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of microservices infrastructure, service mesh architecture, and API gateway configuration
  • Strong understanding of database infrastructure, replication, backup strategies, and high availability configurations
  • Knowledge of NoSQL database infrastructure, clustering, scaling strategies, and operational best practices
  • Multi-cloud expertise across AWS and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with demonstrated experience in CI/CD pipeline development, cloud infrastructure visualization/monitoring, and distributed messaging systems architecture.
  • Experience developing cloud-native applications on cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
  • Proficiency in version control systems (Git, GitLab, GitHub) and experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or similar configuration management tools.
  • Familiarity with containerization and container orchestration frameworks such as Kubernetes or Amazon ECS
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • English language proficiency

Preferred Requirements:

  • Primary work location in Chicago, IL
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and practices
  • Design and implement secure CI/CD pipelines with integrated security scanning, automated testing, and infrastructure as code practices
  • Ability to engineer solutions from high-level business requirements with a high level of autonomy
  • Experience leading and mentoring other DevOps Engineers and SRE
  • Experience implementing best practices for infrastructure and automation projects in a team environment (code reviews, infrastructure testing, monitoring standards, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code
  • Experience with cost-optimizing cloud infrastructure and resource management
  • Experience with observability tools such as Sentry, Cloud Watch, OpenTelemetry, or similar
  • Candidates must possess work authorization for their intended country of employment.
