Job Summary:

The Director of Production is the senior leader accountable for Hat Production, Applications Production, and Shipping Operations. This role ensures on-schedule execution, accurate embellishment, and on-time, error-free shipments to customers.

Reporting to the Head of Fulfillment, you will oversee managers, coordinators, and the shipping team, enforce daily adherence to the Order Prioritization & Production/Application Tracker. The role has full responsibility for hiring, payroll, expense management, and staffing across all three functions. You will partner closely with the Director of Warehouse & QC (peer role) to maintain product and shipping integrity.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Team Management:

    • Lead, mentor, and manage the production team, ensuring alignment with company goals.

    • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

    • Oversee staffing, training, and professional development of the production staff.

    • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy. 

  • Production Planning & Management:

    • Develop and execute production strategies to meet company objectives.

    • Hold Production Manager accountable for daily adherence to the Production Schedule.

    • Monitor real-time progress via the Production & Application Tracker. Implement production KPIs and track performance to optimize output.

  • Applications Production Oversight

    • Ensure Applications Manager delivers 100% accurate embellishment (production, quantity, accuracy)    

    • Verify every unit leaving Applications meets specs of design sheets.


  • Shipping Operations Ownership

    • Oversee Shipping to guarantee 100% on-time departure of all outbound loads.

    • Ensure shipping accuracy: correct SKUs, counts, carton labeling, pallet configuration, and documentation.

    • Final sign-off on carrier scheduling, BOLs, and pallet load plans before pickup.

    • Eliminate chargebacks due to late, incomplete, or mislabeled shipments.

  • Production & Application Tracker Management

    • Own daily review and action on the Production & Application Tracker.

    • Flag delays, bottlenecks, or deviations immediately; escalate only when needed.

    • Use Tracker data to coach managers and adjust staffing or priorities in real time.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Work hand-in-hand with Director of Quality Control (peer) to:

      • Align on QC pass/fail criteria.

      • Resolve application or assembly defects at the source.

      • Jointly audit high-risk runs and outbound pallets.

    • Partner with Warehouse Leadership to optimize staging and load-out flow.

    • Collaborate with Sales & Customer Service to confirm shipping priorities and resolve issues.

  • Process & Standards Enforcement

    • Enforce standard work across pressing, assembly, applications, and shipping.

    • Drive daily stand-up meetings with all team to review Tracker status, shipping cutoffs, and blockers.

    • Identify recurring issues; assign ownership and track closure.


Qualifications:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 7+ years in high-volume production and shipping leadership; apparel, headwear, or decorated goods strongly preferred.

  •  Proven success managing managers and teams of 40+ across production and shipping.

  •  Direct experience with payroll, hiring, expense control, and carrier coordination.

  •  Expert at holding teams accountable to schedules, accuracy, and on-time performance.

  • Comfortable using digital trackers/dashboards (Excel, Google Sheets, or custom tools).

  • Strong communicator—clear, direct, and action-oriented.

Compensation: $90,000- $110,000
