Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Oral Surgery Assistant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have experience assisting oral surgeons in a clinical setting, providing patient care, and ensuring a smooth flow of operations during surgical procedures. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist oral surgeon during surgical procedures, including preparing the operating room, sterilizing instruments, and ensuring a clean and organized environment.

  • Take and develop radiographs (X-rays) as needed.

  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative care instructions to patients.

  • Monitor patient vitals and comfort during procedures.

  • Ensure all surgical tools and equipment are sterilized and prepared according to safety and infection control protocols.

  • Maintain accurate patient records and update charts with surgical details, medications, and care instructions.

  • Assist in patient intake, including gathering medical histories and reviewing treatment plans.

  • Coordinate with office staff to schedule appointments, surgeries, and follow-up visits.

  • Educate patients on post-operative care and answer any questions regarding recovery.

  • Stay up-to-date on the latest dental and surgical practices.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as an oral surgery assistant or dental assistant, with experience in surgical environments.

  • Strong knowledge of oral surgery procedures, patient care, and dental radiography.

  • Ability to assist with oral surgery equipment and instruments.

  • Proficiency in using dental software and patient management systems.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to stay calm and provide support to patients during procedures.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or equivalent certification preferred.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume dental practice.

  • Knowledge of sterilization techniques and infection control protocols.

  • CPR/BLS certification.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
