As a Dental Assistant with Mountlake Family Dentistry, you will play a crucial role in the daily operations of our dental office, assisting our dental professionals in delivering quality oral health care. Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures.
- Set up and breakdown operatories.
- Take digital dental radiographs (x-rays).
- Manage infection control - prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment.
- Provide patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling).
- Teach patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling).
- Scan impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth).
- Perform office management tasks that often require the use of a personal computer.
- Communicate with patients and suppliers (e.g., scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, billing and ordering supplies).
- Help to provide direct patient care in all dental specialties, including orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, and oral surgery.
Requirements
- Completion of a dental assistant program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
- Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) credential, as recognized by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB).
- Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods.
- 2+ years of dental experience.
- Knowledge of Dentrix is a plus.
- Understanding of health & safety regulations and ability to ensure compliance.
- Excellent manual dexterity skills for handling tools and instruments effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills to maintain effective communication with patients and team members.
- Basic understanding of dental records and documentation ability to use dental software.
- Ability to perform all tasks with attention to detail and proficiency.
- Commitment to continuing education in order to maintain licensure and stay current with new treatments and technologies.
