Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide immediate medical care to both adult and pediatric emergencies ensuring timely treatment of patients.
- Conduct thorough assessments, including obtaining medical histories and performing physical examinations.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures to aid in the assessment of patient's medical conditions.
- Collaborate with emergency room physicians, medical and nursing staff to formulate treatment plans.
- Perform minor emergency procedures as competently mentioned in the scope of practice.
- Assist in the continuity of care for patients admitted to hospital care beyond the emergency department.
- Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records adhering to policies and regulations.
- Provide guidance and education to patients and their families about follow-up care, health maintenance, and preventive measures.
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, and calling for assistance from other healthcare support if necessary.
- Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
Requirements
- Must hold a current licensure as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in the state of Indiana.
- Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is required.
- Preferably 1-2 years of full-time emergency medicine experience.
- Demonstrated ability to make critical decisions in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills necessary to coordinate with an interdisciplinary team.
- Capable of handling multiple priorities simultaneously and treating all patients with compassion and integrity.
- Commitment to both professional development and continuous education to foster a state-of-the-art practice.
- Knowledge of electronic health record systems, with superior charting and documentation skills.
