As a WOCN/WCC at our facility, you will play a critical role in treating and managing conditions related to wound care and ostomy management. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive assessments, evaluations, and consultations for wound care and ostomy patients.
  • Develop and implement individualized patient care plans based on each patient’s needs and conditions.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals to deliver optimal care.
  • Provide direct care and wound management, including selection and application of appropriate treatments and dressings.
  • Manage a caseload efficiently while maintaining high standards of care.
  • Monitor, record, and report symptoms and changes in patients' conditions and response to treatment.
  • Educate patients and their families on managing injuries and surgical openings post-discharge.
  • Participate in research and remain engaged with the latest trends in wound care and ostomy management.
  • Ensure the use of sanitized tools and follow infection control guidelines to prevent contamination and infection among patients.
  • Develop and lead informational workshops for staff and patients on wound care management and prevention strategies.

Requirements

  • Current and active registered nurse license in the state of employment.
  • Certification as a Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (WOCN) or Wound Care Certification (WCC) is essential.
  • Minimum of two years clinical experience in wound care, ostomies, or a related medical-surgical environment.
  • Proven ability to work cohesively with a dynamic health team.
  • Strong organizational skills and the capacity to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on education and advocacy for vulnerable patients.
  • Demonstrated clinical judgment and critical thinking in a high-pressure environment.
  • Proficiency with healthcare information systems and electronic medical records.
  • Attentiveness to detail, especially concerning compliance with healthcare regulations and safety standards.
  • Commitment to continuing education and professional development related to wound care and ostomy management.
