Job Description

We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Full-Time Experienced Hospice Aide. This critical role plays an integral part in providing end-of-life care and support to patients and their families in a non-remote setting along the beautiful Oregon Coast. The ideal candidate will be looking for a leadership role within a hospice agency and eager to contribute their expertise and insights into the evolving dynamics of hospice care in our community.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care under the guidance of a nurse supervisor, ensuring comfort and support to patients during their end-of-life care.
  • Assist in the daily activities of living including, but not limited to, personal hygiene, feeding, and mobility assistance.
  • Monitor and report changes in patient conditions and needs to supervising nurse or physician.
  • Support the emotional and psychological needs of patients and their families, ensuring a compassionate presence.
  • Administer medications as prescribed by the healthcare provider and under the supervision of registered nursing staff.
  • Maintain patient care records, documenting care provided and relevant patient interactions.
  • Support the implementation of patient care plans as developed by the healthcare team.
  • Enhance the quality of care by contributing feedback on hospice care practices, aiming to improve patient outcomes and family satisfaction.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training sessions to stay current with the latest practices and techniques in hospice care.
  • Uphold all safety and health regulations to ensure a safe environment for patients, their families, and other team members.

Requirements

  • Current certification as a Hospice Aide or Nursing Assistant from a recognized certifying body required.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a hospice care setting or similar field.
  • Proven record of reliability and 100% dependability.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to provide compassionate professional bedside care.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey sensitive information in a respectful manner.
  • Must be physically able to perform the duties of the position including lifting/moving patients as necessary.
  • Desire and capacity to train and possibly lead new staff, implementing best practices in hospice care.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and willingness to contribute to the professional knowledge base of the team.
  • A genuine desire to make a significant difference in the lives of patients and their families during a challenging period.
