Discover Vein And Vascular Center, a leader in vascular health, is excited to announce an opening for a dedicated and skilled Surgery Scheduler. This pivotal role will enhance our team, dedicated to high-quality patient care and efficient medical service delivery. Situated in the heart of our busy East Valley Vascular Surgery Center, this full-time position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the seamless operation of our healthcare services. Importantly, this is an on-site role that allows direct interaction with our professionals and patients, affirming that it is not a remote job opportunity.

We seek a customer service-oriented, highly motivated individual who thrives in a structured, fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in scheduling surgeries, coordinating between patients and medical teams, and ensuring all preparations are handled efficiently. With your expertise, particularly in vascular surgery settings, you will be instrumental in optimizing our patient throughput and enhancing the overall patient experience at our center.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of surgery scheduling, including patient preparation and follow-up care coordination.
  • Work closely with healthcare providers to ensure timely scheduling of surgeries and procedures.
  • Maintain and update surgery schedules across multiple digital platforms, including AthenaOne EMR.
  • Verify and confirm patient insurance coverage and understand fee schedules to accurately inform patients of their responsibilities.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, providing clear information regarding pre-op and post-op instructions.
  • Address patient queries related to the surgery process in a compassionate and professional manner.
  • Assist in the management of surgical documentation and patient records to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss improvements in patient care and surgery scheduling efficiency.
  • Continuously update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities relevant to the role.
  • Provide a supportive role in emergency scheduling scenarios, maintaining a calm and efficient approach.

Requirements

  • MUST HAVE *SURGERY* SCHEDULING EXPERIENCE, particularly in a vascular or similar surgical setting.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with a proven ability to communicate effectively in high-stress situations.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance benefits, insurance verification processes, and medical billing procedures.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and ICD-10 coding.
  • Highly proficient in the use of medical software systems, especially AthenaOne EMR.
  • Demonstrable skills in organization, multitasking, and handling a high volume workload with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as a self-starter as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Possession of a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and an approachable character.
  • Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish, considered a significant asset.
  • Prior experience in a vascular office setting is highly desirable, though not mandatory.
