Schedule: Tuesday - Thursday 7:30 am - 5 pm
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform initial dental assessments and evaluate patient oral health history.
- Clean and help protect patients’ teeth (e.g., removing plaque or applying fluoride).
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene strategies, such as brushing, flossing, and nutritional counseling.
- Assess oral health conditions, review health history, oral cancer screening, head and neck inspection, dental charting and taking blood pressure and pulse.
- Use a variety of modern dental instruments including hand tools and ultrasonic devices.
- Maintain documentation and charts on each patient.
- Manage appointments to ensure timely care for patients.
- Implement infection control protocols and maintain sterile conditions.
- Work alongside the dentist to determine treatment for dental disease or preventative maintenance strategies.
- Stay updated with advancements in the field of dental hygiene and care.
Requirements
- A valid dental hygiene license as required by the state.
- Proven experience as a dental hygienist.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills suitable for patient education and team collaboration.
- Demonstrable ability to manage anxiety and discomfort of patients.
- Ability to work efficiently without compromising quality or safety.
- Capable of adhering strictly to rules regarding health protection and confidentiality.
- Up-to-date knowledge of tools and treatments in the dental hygiene space.
- Must be available for the entirety of June as a temporary contractor.
