Position Purpose and Objectives

Energy Attic is seeking an HVAC Helper. This person plays a critical role by providing outstanding in-person services for our customers.  HVAC Helper’s tasks include assisting in the install, maintenance, repair, and service to heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems that control the air quality and temperature in residential homes. 

This is a stepping-stone role. This individual will be invested in, taught & given the opportunity to learn, develop & increase his/her proficiency in all things residential HVAC.

Major Duties and Essential Functions

  • Estimator Duties

    • Assist in providing detailed estimates for new system installs, duct work replacement & other related HVAC services 

  • Installation Duties

    • Participates in major component replacement and evaluation of complex system problems under the leadership of higher-level technicians.

  • Technician Duties

    • Performs preventive maintenance, adjustments, and basic repairs on HVAC systems.

    • Performs seasonal overhauls and transitions of systems to and from heating/cooling.

  • Other Duties

    • Help manage & maintain proper inventory

    • Help ensure jobs have the appropriate materials

    • Other tasks as needed 


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Knowledge of HVAC installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance.

  • Knowledge of basic HVAC systems troubleshooting, maintenance and repair.

  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.

  • Knowledge of maintenance and repair procedures for digitally controlled HVAC systems featuring programmable logic controls.

  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.

Education & Experience: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required 

  • Valid driver’s license

  • 3 years in experience in an HVAC environment OR current enrollment in HVAC certification/degree plan

  • Adept at Microsoft Office software

  • Service Fusion experience (not required but is a bonus)


Working Conditions of this Position

  • Typical Hours: Monday – Friday:  8:00 am – 5:00 pm (if employee is enrolled in an HVAC educational program, Energy Attic will set a schedule to accommodate those classes) 
  • Ability to work, from time to time,  after hours, over weekends, and on public holidays with short or no notice
  • Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, biohazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, and/or loud noises.
  • Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
  • Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
