Communications Assistant – Entry Level

Salary Range:  $50000 - $75000 year

We are currently hiring an Entry-Level Communications Assistant to support our event-based outreach and public engagement efforts. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about working directly with communities, supporting live events, and helping to coordinate impactful, in-person initiatives.

As a Communications Assistant, you will play a key role in helping us connect with the public through community events, informational sessions, public programs, and outreach campaigns. You will help coordinate logistics, prepare messaging materials, and represent our organization in a variety of face-to-face settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Event Support: Assist in organizing, setting up, and staffing community events, including town halls, workshops, public meetings, and outreach tables

  • Public Engagement: Interact directly with community members, share information about our organization, answer questions, and gather feedback

  • Material Preparation: Help prepare printed materials such as brochures, flyers, signage, and handouts for public distribution at events

  • Community Outreach Coordination: Support outreach efforts by scheduling appearances, confirming event logistics, and coordinating with community partners

  • Internal Collaboration: Work with other departments to ensure consistent messaging and strong representation at all in-person events

  • Follow-Up Activities: Assist with post-event tasks including gathering public feedback, helping with event reports, and organizing contact information from attendees

Qualifications and Skills

  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Comfortable engaging with the public and speaking to groups of varying sizes

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Reliable and professional with a strong work ethic

  • Able to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends for events

  • Passion for community involvement, outreach, or public service

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Community Development, or related field preferred but not required
