The role involves working with an enthusiastic team located in the Kansas City metropolitan area and requires routine travel to various job sites, including our shop in Tonganoxie, KS.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate and manage a commercial vehicle adhering to standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.
- Deliver and transport equipment to and from job sites around the Kansas City metropolitan area and the shop in Tonganoxie, KS.
- Ensure timely delivery and upkeep of the project schedule by coordinating with construction site managers.
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues, reporting deficiencies to the maintenance team promptly.
- Plan routes effectively based on scheduled job demands and traffic information.
- Secure cargo for transport, using ropes, blocks, chains, covers, or other securing devices.
- Maintain records of deliveries and vehicle maintenance.
- Comply with all DOT regulations and safety standards during operations.
- Carry out emergency roadside repairs when necessary, though mechanical knowledge is desirable, it's not mandatory.
- Assist with loading and unloading of construction materials and equipment. This includes the ability to hook up, load, and unload trailers effectively.
- Engage in basic vehicle maintenance tasks such as cleaning, refueling, and checking fluid levels.
- Communicate regularly with dispatch and other team members to ensure a smooth workflow and address any operational challenges.
Requirements
- Valid and active Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with no manual restriction.
- Proven experience as a CDL Driver, preferably in a construction or similar industrial setting
- Thorough understanding of DOT regulations and knowledge of state and federal transport-related laws.
- Good physical condition, with the ability to handle physical workloads and operate heavy equipment; operational knowledge of such equipment is preferred but not required.
- Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact professionally with team members and site managers.
- Capability to navigate various electronic logging devices and internal communication tools.
- Reliability and dependability in maintaining delivery schedules and quality of service.
- Dedication to safety practices and a clean driving record.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and job priorities.
- Willingness to partake in continuing education and training related to the role and industry regulations.
