Summary: Operations Manager is responsible for the performance and results of manufacturing operations pertaining to the company’s contract manufacturing (CM) business unit. The Operations Manager develops and provides leadership to our Location Managers, production staff, CNC machinists, fabricators and 3rd party outsourced vendors. This position has full responsibility for ensuring on time end-to-end fulfillment of customer production orders that meet or exceed quality and cost targets. This leadership role involves hands-on operations management to ensure the achievement of revenue targets, KPI’s, On-time deliveries, staffing resources, machinery resources and other aspects that pertain to the oversight of the CM facilities and staff to optimally produce finished goods for shipment.

As a key member of Operations, the Operations manager will lead by example, develop and train new and existing Location Managers, provide mentorship, and ensure the development of effective production strategies are executed to make the (CM) contract manufacturing business unit successful.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Management: Lead, train, mentor, and support a team of Location Managers in the development and execution of their production strategies, ensuring they are aligned with the company’s goals and objectives.  Build, Lead and manage the Operations organization by implementing programs and processes to optimize operations, production and manufacturing work flow.  Manage direct reports.  Develop, improve and implement operational processes, systems and SOPs for a smooth workflow.  Lead your team by example.  
  • Business Metrics: Develop and implement operation and production strategies to achieve KPI’s and Revenue targets.  Establish and implement key operational metrics through workflow.
  • Communication: Communicates efficiently and effectively in real time to all levels of the organization.  Focuses on facts and process.  Shares information honestly and transparently.
  • Reporting & Forecasting: Conduct internal weekly production meetings with all location managers. Prepare regular production forecasts, actual performance reports, and production updates for the Sr Leadership Team. 
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Director of Business Development, and production teams to ensure smooth transitions from sales to production execution.  Collaborate with other departments to ensure revenues shipping initiatives align with the company’s overall goals and capabilities.  Collaborate with the management team to develop strategies and systems for operations.  Willingly work with others up, down, and across the organization to get results.  Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the growth objectives of the organization. 

Required: 

  • Experience: At least 5 years of manufacturing operations experience required with a minimum of 3 years in an operations leadership role.  Experience in OEM, CNC, Contract Manufacturing, Fabrication, Industrial or related industries is required.  Proven track record of developing, training, managing and mentoring production teams, and achieving all production targets in a competitive environment.  Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.        Train and Delegate.  Demonstrated proficiency in leading and managing effective teams.  Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.  OCD in Ownership of business process and operations.  Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.        Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Extensive knowledge of CNC machining manufacturing processes required. Knowledge of CNC Turning, CNC, Milling, Screw Machining, Swiss Machining, Chemical Finishes etc.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills with the ability to inspire a production team. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of an organization.  Highly organized with strong time management and project management skills.  Proficient in ERP software, sales analytics, and reporting tools.  
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business, BBA/MBA, or a related field is required, though equivalent experience will be considered.
