We are a premier grower of indoor and outdoor plants, providing annual, perennial, floral, and holiday plants. We are one of the largest tropical and foliage growers in the Midwest. Located on the west side of Kansas City, we are geographically centered to deliver to independent garden centers, grocery stores, and big box stores throughout the Midwest.
Position: We are seeking an enthusiastic and organized Inside Sales Representative to support and grow our customer base. This position is critical to the success of our sales team and offers the opportunity to build lasting relationships within the horticulture industry.
Responsibilities:
Customer Relationships & Sales
Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers
Contact customers weekly to solicit orders, suggest additions, and share product updates
Prepare and provide quotes for both regular and special order items
Handle and resolve customer product or shipment concerns professionally and efficiently
Collaborate with the purchasing team on special orders and pricing
Sales Support & Order Management
Accurately enter and manage sales orders for pickup or delivery
Work with the inventory team to stay current on availability, small batch inventory, and special items
Help ensure smooth order processing and coordinate with distribution for efficient routing
Review pulled orders for accuracy before loading, when possible
Marketing & Communication
Create and distribute weekly product availability emails with highlights and photos (BCC format)
Take and edit product photos to showcase seasonal or featured items
Design simple promotional flyers and pre-book forms for seasonal products
Update the company website and assist with basic social media outreach
Collect and share promotional ideas for both company-wide and customer-specific use
Administrative & Industry Awareness
Maintain accurate customer contact records and folders
Track customer-specific needs, such as UPC requirements
Conduct occasional customer visits and buyer meetings to build rapport and plan for upcoming sales
Monitor competitor offerings and stay informed on industry trends through trade publications and e-newsletters
Initiate outreach to potential new customers and manage onboarding paperwork
Requirements:
2–3 years of sales or customer service experience (horticulture industry experience a plus)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word), basic photo editing, and general computer aptitude
Familiarity with Macola or other business management software is a plus
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks at once
Diplomatic and customer-focused with strong problem-solving abilities
Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced seasonal environment
Interest or knowledge in plants, gardening, or green industry preferred
Pay: $20- $22 per hour (no commission)
Hours: Monday-Friday; 8:30am-4pm, can be flexible
