Inventory & Supply Specialist

Salary Range:  $20.00 - $22.00 hour

 

Industrial Metal Fabrication is seeking a highly organized, analytical, and fiscally responsible Inventory & Supply Specialist to join our team. This position will be instrumental in the efficient and accurate management of our parts, tools, and consumable inventory, ensuring seamless operations while maintaining a strong focus on cost control and resource optimization. You will play a crucial role in maintaining optimal stock levels, strategically procuring necessary items, and supporting our team members and customers.

 

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and maintain accurate inventory records for all parts, tools, and consumable supplies.
  • Receive, inspect, and log incoming shipments of parts, tools, and consumables, ensuring accuracy against purchase orders and identifying any discrepancies or damages.
  • Conduct regular physical inventory counts (e.g., cycle counts, audits) and reconcile discrepancies to maintain inventory accuracy and identify potential loss or theft.
  • Analyze usage trends, set re-order points and optimal stock levels, and identify obsolete or slow-moving items for parts, tools, and consumables to minimize carrying costs and waste.
  • Procure parts, tools, and supplies from various vendors, obtain quotes, negotiate prices, and place orders efficiently and cost-effectively, while adhering to budget guidelines.
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery, optimal pricing, and favorable contract terms.
  • Monitor inventory expenditures and assist in preparing reports and analyses to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints and minimize overall supply chain costs.
  • Coordinate with other departments (e.g., maintenance, service, sales) to understand their needs for parts, tools, and consumables and ensure timely and cost-effective fulfillment of requests.
  • Provide support and information to internal teams and customers regarding parts and tool availability, compatibility, and technical specifications, acting as a resource for their needs.
  • Issue tools and consumables to authorized personnel, meticulously tracking their usage and ensuring proper check-in/return processes.
  • Organize and maintain the parts, tools, and consumables storage areas/warehouse to maximize efficiency, accessibility, and safety.
  • Prepare and generate reports on inventory levels, usage trends, procurement activities, and associated costs to inform decision-making and support operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company policies related to inventory management and warehouse operations, particularly regarding hazardous materials storage and handling.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and product knowledge for parts, tools, and consumables to enhance performance and provide optimal service.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of experience in parts, tools, and consumables inventory management, warehousing, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with inventory management software or ERP systems.
  • Strong computer skills, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members, suppliers, and customers.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of budgeting and cost control principles.
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, is a plus.
  • Knowledge of various types of tools and consumables relevant to the industry, and their safe handling and storage procedures.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and perform tasks that involve bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and standing for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver 50 lbs. without physical restrictions.
  • Must wear appropriate PPE at all times such as safety glasses, welding helmets, hearing protection, gloves and safety toe boots.
  • Able to work in hot and cold environments during summer and winter months.
