This key position is designed for an individual who thrives in addressing the comprehensive needs of new hires and ensuring they are perfectly integrated into our dynamic team. The role is pivotal in maintaining the high standards of our operational workforce and is essential for continuing the growth and success of our company.

As Trucking Orientation Specialist, you will play a crucial role in the initial stages of our employee life cycle. This is not a remote position, and the successful candidate will need to showcase a robust set of interpersonal and organizational skills, directly contributing to the foundation of our trucking operations. Driving the onboarding process, you will ensure all new trucking personnel are well-versed with our protocols, safety measures, and performance expectations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and review orientation programs for new trucking hires.
  • Coordinate and conduct comprehensive introductory sessions including safety protocol, operational procedures, and compliance regulations.
  • Maintain documentation on individual progress during orientation phases and provide detailed feedback to management.
  • Work closely with the recruitment team to smooth transitions and address any recruitment needs when orientation sessions are not in session.
  • Update training materials based on new compliance laws, safety regulations, and operational strategies.
  • Assist in the development of training schedules and maintain a cadre of resources necessary for effective learning.
  • Provide ongoing support to new drivers, ensuring a seamless adaptation to their roles and responsibilities within the company.
  • Manage logistics for training sessions including venues, materials, and scheduling.
  • Monitor the efficacy of the orientation and onboarding program and propose necessary adjustments to optimize the process.
  • Create and maintain a welcoming and inspirational atmosphere for all new hires to foster inclusion and reduce turnover rates.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in trucking is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of the trucking industry, including safety compliance, federal/state regulations, and operational procedures.
  • Solid experience in conducting orientation and onboarding sessions for new hires, specifically in the trucking sector.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a focus on staff development and training.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills – able to handle the cyclical nature of orientation and recruitment periods.
  • Proficient in using MS Office applications and other software required for training presentations and record keeping.
  • Passionate about helping others and creating an engaging, informative training experience.
  • Capability to provide support and detailed documentation to management regarding new hire progress and orientation outcomes.
