Title: Safety Manager - OTR Trucking
Location: Owatonna, MN
Pay: $70,000-$90,000/yr
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Safety Manager to oversee and manage all aspects of our safety program for our OTR trucking operations. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations, promote a culture of safety, and reduce risk by implementing proactive safety initiatives. This position plays a critical role in protecting our drivers, assets, and reputation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure company compliance with all DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and state transportation safety regulations.
- Develop, implement, and manage safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Conduct driver onboarding and orientation with a focus on safety education.
- Monitor driver logs, hours-of-service compliance, and ELD records.
- Oversee accident investigations, root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Conduct random and post-accident drug and alcohol testing per DOT regulations.
- Perform periodic audits of equipment inspection reports, maintenance logs, and safety documentation.
- Track and analyze safety metrics (e.g., CSA scores, incidents, violations) and provide actionable insights.
- Maintain records for insurance claims, citations, and safety-related incidents.
- Coordinate and lead monthly driver safety meetings and annual training sessions.
- Work closely with dispatch and operations to address safety concerns and prevent issues.
- Serve as the company’s liaison during audits or investigations by DOT or insurance providers.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience (3+ years) as a Safety Manager in the transportation or logistics industry.
- Strong knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with safety software, ELD platforms, and Microsoft Office.
- CDL or prior driving experience in OTR trucking (preferred but not required).
- Certified Director of Safety (CDS) or similar credential is a plus.
