Smile Avenue Family Dentistry is excited to announce a full-time opportunity for a dedicated and professional Dental Insurance Coordinator at our clinic. This is an on-site position that requires the successful applicant to work closely with our administrative team to streamline insurance processes. We are seeking someone who is precise, organized, and adept at managing multiple tasks efficiently. As a Dental Insurance Coordinator, you will be at the core of ensuring our operations run smoothly regarding dental insurance matters.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Verify new and existing patients' dental insurance coverage in a timely manner.
- Submit dental insurance claims and ensure they are processed accurately and within required time frames.
- Post and manage explanations of benefits (EOBs) for all processed claims.
- Communicate clearly with patients regarding their benefit usage, co-pays, and potential out-of-pocket costs.
- Follow up on pending claims and resolve discrepancies in payments or denials effectively.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date information in the dental practice management system.
- Coordinate with dental staff to obtain necessary documentation for claim submissions.
- Regularly communicate with insurance providers to verify changes in policies and coverage.
- Review and appeal unpaid and denied claims.
- Prepare and provide regular reports on insurance processing activities and billing outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with current healthcare regulations, dental practice policies, and confidentiality guidelines.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience in dental insurance or billing.
- Proficiency with dental practice management software, Open Dental preferred.
- Strong understanding of PPO insurance plans, including pre-authorizations and claims follow-up.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively address client and team needs.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Problem-solving skills, with the capacity to navigate complex insurance queries and issues.
- Experience with tools such as Dental Intel, Modento, Airpay, Insurance answer plus.
- Typing speed of at least 60 WPM with high accuracy required.
