Group is seeking a Technical Game Designer
(Contract) to join our client’s team in gaming industry to
contribute to the prototyping phase of a new, unreleased project!
This
role focuses on the development of AI-driven character behaviors and social
systems, with an emphasis on generative AI (Gen AI) integration. You'll work
closely with the Creative Director and Producer to shape innovative gameplay
experiences, contributing hands-on to system design and implementation within
Unreal Engine.
We are currently considering candidates who reside in
New York, Massachusetts, Washington, or California who are willing to work Eastern Time hours.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design,
prototype, and iterate on complex NPC behaviors, relationships, and
scheduling systems
- Implement
gameplay features using Unreal Engine and Gen AI tools
- Collaborate
directly with the Creative Director and cross-functional team members to
bring systems to life
- Drive
the creation of engaging, AI-driven character interactions and emergent
social gameplay
- Stay
current on emerging AI and Gen AI technologies and identify opportunities
for integration
- Document
systems clearly and communicate technical and design intent across the
team
Qualifications:
- 5+
years of experience with Unreal or Unity engines
- Hands-on
experience with gameplay AI systems—professionally or through personal
projects
- Understanding
of behavioral modeling, character state machines, and scheduling systems
- Familiarity
with generative AI tools and their applications in gameplay
- Strong
prototyping skills and comfort with rapid iteration
- Excellent
communication and documentation abilities
- Self-motivated,
independent, and excited to explore emerging technologies in game
development
