Pro Diesel is looking for a motivated and eager to learn shop hand. They will have a variety of tasks based on ability and willingness to learn. Under supervision, our Shop Hand will assist our mechanics as well as office staff. The Shop Hand is a vital part of operations to help keep the shop running smoothly.

Job Expectations:

• Tune automobile engines to ensure proper and efficient functioning.
• Repair and service air conditioning, heating, engine cooling, and electrical systems.
• Disassemble units and inspect parts for wear, using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Repair or replace parts such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings – overhaul engines
• Electrical trouble shooting and repair
• Plan work procedures, using charts, technical manuals, and experience.                                                     
• Follow checklists to ensure all important parts are examined, including belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other potentially troublesome areas.
• Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune-ups.
• Troubleshoot fuel, ignition, and emissions control systems, using electronic testing equipment.
• Review work orders and discuss work with supervisors.
• Repair, replace, and adjust brakes – Basic Break Service
• Test and adjust repaired systems to meet manufacturers' performance specifications.
• Inspect vehicles for damage and record findings so that necessary repairs can be made.
• Test drive vehicles and test components and systems, using equipment such as compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic devices.

Job Requirements:

• 3+ years’ experience
• Experience with light duty diesel
• Valid Driver’s license and clean driving record
• Basic Tools
• Strong Mechanical Aptitude and trouble shooting skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Physical tasks required to perform this job include lifting 60+ lbs., standing, walking, climbing, pushing, pulling etc.
• Exposure to dust, gas fumes, and extreme temperature changes
