Delivery Driver

Salary Range:  $14 - $14 hour

Job Summary: The Dental Laboratory Delivery Driver is responsible for ensuring the safe and timely delivery of dental products, materials, and restorations to and from the dental laboratory. This role requires a reliable, organized individual with a strong sense of responsibility, excellent driving skills, and an ability to manage deliveries efficiently while providing superior customer service to our dental clients and partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivery of Dental Products:
    • Safely transport dental products, restorations, models, and materials between the laboratory, dental offices, and other locations as necessary.
    • Ensure that all items are carefully packaged and secured during transit to prevent damage.
    • Verify deliveries and pickups by checking the accuracy of orders and documents.
  • Route Planning and Timeliness:
    • Plan and organize daily routes to ensure timely deliveries and pickups in the most efficient manner.
    • Communicate effectively with the laboratory and dental offices to confirm delivery schedules and address any potential delays or issues.
    • Maintain an accurate log of all deliveries and pickups made, including addresses and times.
  • Customer Service:
    • Provide excellent customer service to dental professionals by interacting professionally and courteously with clients during drop-offs and pickups.
    • Address any immediate concerns from clients and relay information back to the laboratory or supervisor.
    • Assist with the loading and unloading of dental materials and products.
  • Vehicle Maintenance and Safety:
    • Ensure the company vehicle is clean, well-maintained, and safe to operate at all times.
    • Conduct regular checks on the vehicle’s condition, including tires, brakes, oil levels, and general cleanliness.
    • Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations while driving.
    • Report any vehicle issues or accidents promptly to the supervisor.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Assist in managing and tracking inventory during deliveries to ensure that all products are correctly accounted for.
    • Return any unused or undelivered materials to the laboratory in a timely manner.
  • Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate records of deliveries and pickups, including signed receipts, client feedback, and any issues encountered during transport.
    • Ensure that all required paperwork is completed and filed accurately for each delivery.
  • Additional Duties:
    • Assist with office and lab staff as needed for non-delivery-related tasks, such as helping to prepare materials or assist in organization.
    • Assist with other logistics tasks, such as inventory audits or material handling, when not on the road.

Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Previous experience as a delivery driver, preferably in the healthcare or dental field.
  • Strong knowledge of local routes and area.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and load materials up to [insert weight, e.g., 50 lbs].
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience working in a dental or healthcare setting is a plus.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to check and verify orders and deliveries accurately.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle changes to delivery schedules.
  • Familiarity with basic computer systems or mobile apps for tracking deliveries and maintaining logs is a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • Work will be performed in various locations, including the dental laboratory, dental offices, and on the road.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and masks may be required when handling dental products.
  • Physical demands may include lifting, carrying, and loading dental products, as well as sitting or driving for long periods.
  • Occasional exposure to varying weather conditions during deliveries.
