For our busy dental practice, we’re looking for a dental assistant. You’ll assist with patient preparation, sterilization of tools, room setup, and some dental hygiene activities. Having a dental x-ray certification is an advantage and provide excellent patient care to succeed in this position.

Dental assistants should be well-organized and meticulous in their work. You should be able to follow directions and adhere to the rules of the dental practice. We want you to be capable of delivering direct or indirect patient care and ensuring that office procedures run smoothly.

This position is part-time  hours .  It may change into a full time place of work.  

Dental Assistant Duties & Responsibilities:

• Select and set up instruments, equipment and materials needed

• Sterilize instruments according to regulations

• Assist the dentist through 4-handed dentistry

• Undertake lab tasks as instructed

• Provide oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions

• Keep the dental room clean and well-stocked

• Schedule appointments

• When necessary, assist dentists in the management of medical and dental emergencies

• Making sure medical and dental histories, as well as patient vital signs, are gathered and recorded

• Maintain dental equipment inventory and order dental supplies

Dental Assistant Requirements:

• Proven experience as a dental assistant

• Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods

• Understanding of health and safety regulations

• Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks like coronal polishing is a plus

• Good computer skills

• Excellent communication and people skills

• Strong attention to detail

• Must be well-organized and reliable

• High school diploma

• Graduate of a dental assistant school is preferred

• Additional certification or training is an asset (e.g. EFDA)
