The Cow Creek Band of The Umpqua Tribe of Indians is excited to announce an opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic professional to join our Educational team as a Part-Time Teacher's Aide I at the esteemed Yimìsa' Preschool. This role is pivotal for those who are passionate about contributing to the education and development of preschool-aged children within our community. The position is not eligible for remote work and requires a hands-on approach to facilitate a nurturing and educational environment that respects and promotes the tribe's cultural heritage.
As a Teacher's Aide I, you will play a crucial supportive role to our preschool teachers by aiding in daily classroom activities and ensuring the well-being and developmental progress of our children. Your contributions will be directly impactful in creating a safe, engaging, and enriching environment that fosters learning and growth for our young ones in alignment with the Tribe’s educational goals and standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate the service of nutritious meals and snacks to the participants of the Preschool, maintaining high standards of sanitation and nutrition.
- Ensure strict adherence to sanitation standards during and after each snack or meal service.
- Assist in managing the classroom environment alongside the Preschool teachers, contributing to teaching and learning activities as required.
- Build and maintain positive, nurturing relationships with Preschool youth, creating a supportive and safe environment.
- Supervise students during rest periods to ensure a quiet and restful environment conducive to relaxation and wellbeing.
- Engage children in activities that promote physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth.
- Create and maintain a clean, orderly, and inviting learning environment.
- Attend to the children’s personal needs and assist them in developing self-care and independence skills.
- Actively involve the children in the learning process through the use of interactive, developmental-appropriate educational materials.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the program and the development of the children.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required. Early Learning training or classes preferred.
- Demonstrated experience and ability in:
- Relationship skills: establishing and maintaining positive relationships with youth and adults, being friendly, outgoing, flexible and receptive.
- Demonstrated previous experience with 3 – 4-year-olds.
- Communication skills: intermediate written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Thinking skills: effective at problem solving, trouble shooting, and diffusing difficult situations.
- Physical abilities: Must be able to engage with the Preschool youth in learning activities including floor activities, running, jumping, and playing. Ability to lift and carry 30 lbs. for significant distances.
- Self-Management Skills: be able to work independently and make sound decisions, demonstrate motivation.
- Ability to obtain a Food Handlers Card, CPR, and first aid training within the first 90 days of employment.
- Required to maintain a well-groomed, clean, and professional appearance at all times.
- Must hold a current valid Oregon Driver's License.
