Job Description

The Cow Creek Band of the Umpqua Tribe of Indians is pleased to announce an exciting job opportunity within our Health & Wellness Center. We are seeking a dedicated and professional Medical Receptionist to join our team. This is a full-time position based in our on-site facility, emphasizing the importance of on-ground interactions and personalized patient care. As this is not a remote job, the candidate will be expected to be present at the office to manage various patient-interaction roles effectively.

The Medical Receptionist is crucial in establishing a positive first impression for patients and visitors at our Health & Wellness Center. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing front-line communications, handling sensitive patient information, and ensuring our clients receive the utmost care and attention from the moment they step into our facility.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide first-level contact and convey a positive first impression through professional and courteous greeting and information to patients and visitors.
  • Support medical teams through managing consultations, referrals, case management, patient reminders, follow-ups, and additional projects as required.
  • Obtain and enter patient demographics; update insurance and patient information with each visit to maintain accuracy for billing and patient health records.
  • Schedule patient appointments using EHR (Electronic Health Records) and PMAS (Practice Management Administration Software) according to team requirements and scheduling guidelines.
  • Perform clerical and support duties as assigned by the Manager/Supervisor, assist staff with various tasks as needed.
  • Collect co-pays and balances as required, applying payments to balances while maintaining a daily log of patient payments.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality; adhere to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all programs offered by the Health & Wellness Center, effectively sharing this information when necessary.
  • Travel as required by job duties, ensuring that all administrative tasks are handled efficiently even when off-site.

Requirements

  • Must be able to commute to all clinic locations.
  • High school diploma or GED, required.
  • Two years medical office experience preferred.
  • Experience with scheduling referrals and consultations preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of office procedures, office equipment, word processing/computer experience, and knowledge of government program rules and regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Must demonstrate proven effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with staff, local agencies, and individuals from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds in a friendly and professional manner.
