About CWH Advisors

CWH Advisors partners with healthcare organizations, investors, and operators to support growth, performance improvement, and execution-readiness across the healthcare landscape. Our work is grounded in deep industry knowledge, operational discipline, and a commitment to helping clients move with confidence.

Overview

We’re seeking a Credentialing SME for a contract consulting engagement supporting a client with physician credentialing, payer enrollment, and credentialing operation’s needs.

This role is ideal for an experienced credentialing professional who can serve as the credentialing SME on a project team, bringing hands-on expertise in commercial payer credentialing, Medicare enrollment, credentialing software platforms, documentation management, and performance-based credentialing workflows.

The successful candidate will work as part of a broader project team, advising on credentialing processes, helping evaluate and improve current-state workflows, supporting execution against client priorities, and ensuring the project team has accurate, practical insight into credentialing requirements, risks, timelines, and operational dependencies.

This role requires demonstrated experience administering credentialing through dedicated credentialing software, payer portals, and workflow platforms. Candidates whose credential experience is primarily Excel-based will not be a fit for this engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the credentialing subject matter expert on a client-facing consulting engagement.
  • Support the project team with expertise in physician credentialing, commercial payer enrollment, and Medicare enrollment workflows.
  • Use credentialing software, payer portals, and workflow platforms to support credentialing administration, tracking, documentation, and reporting.
  • Review, assess, and advise on credentialing processes, documentation requirements, payer follow-up workflows, and operational bottlenecks.
  • Help the client and project team understand credentialing timelines, dependencies, risks, and performance expectations.
  • Support credentialing execution activities, including application tracking, recredentialing, payer enrollment packets, attestations, and documentation review.
  • Evaluate credentialing files for completeness, accuracy, consistency, and audit-readiness.
  • Advise on document acquisition, management, storage, and tracking processes to improve organization and visibility.
  • Monitor and interpret credentialing metrics, scorecards, turnaround times, and performance-based outcomes.
  • Identify gaps, inconsistencies, missing information, and process issues that may delay credentialing completion.
  • Translate credentialing data, system outputs, and workflow status into practical updates, recommendations, risks, and next steps for the client and project team.
  • Communicate clearly with client stakeholders, providers, payers, and internal project team members.
  • Support process improvement recommendations that increase efficiency, accountability, accuracy, and transparency across credentialing operations.

What You Bring

  • Experience in physician credentialing, including both commercial payer credentialing and Medicare enrollment.
  • Demonstrated expertise using credentialing software or credentialing workflow platforms for day-to-day credentialing administration.
  • Ability to use credentialing systems as the source of truth for provider files, application status, documentation, follow-up activity, and performance reporting.
  • Experience working in payer portals, credentialing platforms, workflow tools, and provider data systems.
  • Ability to support or advise on credentialing platform workflows, system-driven tracking, document management, status reporting, and credentialing data integrity.
  • Strong understanding of credentialing workflows, payer requirements, provider documentation, follow-up processes, and operational dependencies.
  • Proven ability to meet or manage credentialing metrics, scorecards, deadlines, and performance-based outcomes.
  • Highly organized approach to document acquisition, document tracking, file management, and credentialing status reporting.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in reviewing applications, provider files, payer documentation, and system data.
  • Ability to serve as a credentialing SME within a consulting or project-based environment.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain credentialing issues clearly to non-credentialing stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify risks, escalate issues, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Comfort working as part of a fast-moving project team while also independently owning credentialing-related workstreams.
  • Client-service orientation, professional judgment, and the ability to represent CWH Advisors well in client-facing settings.
  • Healthcare provider enrollment, payer enrollment, credentialing operations, or credentialing transformation experience preferred.
  • Primarily remote, with availability for regular project team meetings, client updates, and status reporting.

Important System Experience Requirement

This is not an Excel-based credentialing administration role. While Excel may be used for supplemental analysis or reporting, the successful candidate must have meaningful hands-on experience administering credentialing work through credentialing software, payer portals, and workflow systems.

Candidates should be comfortable navigating system-based credentialing workflows, maintaining accurate records in credentialing platforms, managing documentation within structured systems, and using platform data to track progress, identify issues, and report status.
