About Us

Trapped in the Upstate Escape Rooms is a locally owned business offering immersive, hands-on escape room experiences. Our games are custom-built and require both strong guest interaction and the ability to troubleshoot and maintain a variety of physical and technical elements in real time. We are seeking a dependable and motivated Assistant Manager to help lead day-to-day operations across our locations. This role combines customer experience, problem-solving, and business-minded thinking to ensure both excellent guest experiences and strong overall performance.

Position Overview

This is a hands-on leadership role. The Assistant Manager is responsible for running shifts, supporting staff, solving problems as they arise, and actively contributing to the growth and success of the business. The ideal candidate is someone who takes ownership, thinks independently, and looks for ways to improve both operations and revenue—not someone who simply completes assigned tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Leadership: 

  • Lead shifts and act as the primary point of contact during operating hours 
  • Support, coach, and guide game hosts 
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness

Guest Experience:

  • Deliver clear, confident game briefings 
  • Monitor games and provide clues 
  • Ensure a high-quality experience for all guests

Problem Solving & Troubleshooting:

  • Troubleshoot basic technical issues (computers, screens, audio) 
  • Perform minor repairs using basic tools 
  • Assess issues in real time and determine solutions or workarounds

Sales & Business Growth:

  • Encourage rebookings and upsells 
  • Motivate staff to generate reviews 
  • Set and track simple performance goals 
  • Contribute ideas to improve revenue and engagement

Preferred Experience

Highly Preferred:

  • Previous escape room experience

Also Relevant:

  • Live events or theater tech 
  • AV/IT troubleshooting 
  • Hands-on or mechanical experience 
  • Hospitality or sales-focused roles

Schedule & Availability

  • Part-time with guaranteed hours and opportunity for additional shifts 
  • Must be available evenings, weekends, and holidays 
  • Primarily covers peak operating times

Compensation

  • Starting at $17/hour (based on experience) 
  • Opportunity for increased hours and responsibility based on performance
