Aesthetic Family Dentistry, PC, a well-established dental practice located in the picturesque NE part of the valley in the North Scottsdale/Cave Creek area, is excited to announce an opening for a Lead Dental Assistant. This is a Full-Time position that requires the presence of the assistant on-site, offering an unmatched opportunity to advance your career in dental health services. We are seeking a dedicated professional with outstanding skills and a positive attitude to lead our back office operations. The successful candidate will join a small, close-knit team led by a dentist with over 30 years of experience. Our practice operates on a fee-for-service model, prioritizing patient experience and comprehensive dentistry with minimal insurance interference. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Directly assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures.
  • Manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and an emergency manual.
  • Set up and breakdown operatory post-treatment.
  • Take dental radiographs (x-rays).
  • Manage infection control - prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment.
  • Provide patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling).
  • Teach patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health; (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling).
  • Take impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth).
  • Perform office management tasks that often require the use of a personal computer.
  • Communicate with patients and suppliers (e.g., scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, billing and ordering supplies).
  • Help to provide direct patient care in all dental specialties, including orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics and oral surgery.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a dental assistant; minimum 3 years preferred.
  • Excellent understanding of dental hygiene procedures.
  • Knowledge of aseptic and sterilization techniques.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Well-organized and reliable.
  • High school diploma; graduating from dental assistant school is preferred.
  • Certification or associate degree in an accredited dental assistance program.
  • Dental X-ray certification.
  • Expanded functions credentials preferred.
  • Ability to make beautiful, lasting temporaries is required.
  • Experience with Dentrix software is a plus.
  • Capability to handle various dental instruments and equipment.
