Purchasing Agent Coordinator
Peterson Dental Laboratory is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Purchasing Agent & Operations Coordinator to oversee purchasing, inventory control, vendor management, cost optimization, and various operational support functions throughout the organization.
This is not a traditional purchasing role. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving problems, wears multiple hats, and takes ownership of getting things done. The ideal candidate understands that purchasing is both operational and strategic and is willing to jump in wherever needed to help the business succeed.
This role works closely with Production, Accounting, and Leadership to ensure materials are available when needed, inventory remains accurate and efficient, costs are controlled, and operational needs are handled proactively.
Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory levels to support production demands
Distribute weekly issuance of materials to production departments
Process daily issuance of implant materials for case production
Conduct monthly cycle counts and annual physical inventory counts
Identify overstocked, understocked, and slow-moving inventory
Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions
Develop and improve inventory tracking processes and controls
Source and purchase dental laboratory materials, supplies, and selected equipment
Negotiate pricing, terms, freight costs, and service agreements with vendors
Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships
Identify alternative suppliers to improve cost, quality, and availability
Monitor vendor performance and hold suppliers accountable for service expectations
Ensure timely purchasing to prevent production interruptions
Analyze purchasing trends and material usage patterns
Identify opportunities for cost savings, bulk purchasing, and process improvements
Track vendor pricing changes and negotiate increases when appropriate
Partner with Accounting and Operations to improve gross margins through material cost management
Assist in reducing excess and obsolete inventory
Support company initiatives focused on efficiency and profitability
Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory records
Generate inventory, purchasing, and cost analysis reports
Support monthly inventory reconciliations and financial reviews
Utilize ERP and inventory management systems to maintain data integrity
Assist with process documentation and continuous improvement initiatives
Provide administrative support to the Accounting department
Coordinate facility maintenance, repairs, and vendor service requests
Assist leadership with special projects and operational initiatives
Support various departments as business needs arise
Help identify and implement process improvements across the organization
3+ years of experience in purchasing, inventory management, supply chain, operations, or procurement
Manufacturing, distribution, or inventory-intensive environment preferred
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience with ERP, inventory management, or purchasing systems
Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and reporting
Excellent organizational and time-management skills
Strong negotiation and vendor management abilities
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Comfortable managing multiple priorities and changing demands
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. No two days are exactly the same. One day you may be negotiating vendor pricing, the next day assisting with inventory audits, coordinating facility repairs, building reports, or helping solve an operational challenge.
We are looking for someone who:
Is highly organized and exceptionally efficient
Can successfully manage multiple priorities without constant direction
Takes initiative and identifies problems before they become issues
Is resourceful and figures things out rather than waiting for instructions
Enjoys improving processes and finding better ways to get things done
Has a strong sense of urgency and follows through on commitments
Is comfortable rolling up their sleeves and helping wherever needed
Communicates professionally and confidently with vendors and coworkers
Takes pride in being dependable, accountable, and results-driven
This is not a role for someone looking to simply complete a list of daily tasks. We are seeking a proactive team member who enjoys contributing across multiple areas of the business and helping drive operational excellence.
