Job Summary:

The Implant Department Team Lead is responsible for overseeing all operations within the implant department, ensuring the selection, quality, processing, and management of implant cases meet company standards. This role requires technical expertise, team leadership, cross-department collaboration, and a strong focus on product quality and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Selection of Implant Components

  • Oversee selection of implant analogs prior to physical or digital model production.
  • Approve and select stock abutments prior to production.
  • Coordinate with customers regarding resell implant component requests.

Product Quality Controls (PQC)

  • Inspect implant components before model production.
  • Inspect implant models prior to prosthetic production.
  • Inspect abutments after production and following any cementation process.
  • Conduct inspections of remakes and log reasons in the operating system.
  • Review and log internal remakes in the operating system.

Post Processing

  • Oversee the adjust implant abutments, PFM, implant bars, and full arch reconstruction frames as needed after milling and inspect them. 
  • Oversee high-shining processes including operation of the DLyte polishing unit for abutments and bars.
  • Oversee proper polishing of metal-based products after ceramic production.

Technical Support

  • Provide technical support to clinical doctors regarding implant products.
  • Offer implant-related support to other Peterson Dental Lab (PDL) departments throughout production.

Inventory Management

  • Maintain appropriate on-hand levels of implant components and department supplies weekly.
  • Coordinate recycling of implant components found throughout the facility or returned by clinicians.

Department Management

  • Implement and sustain standard work per Work Instructions (WI) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as part of the Quality System.
  • Assign work tasks to technicians and provide oversight to ensure timely and accurate completion.
  • Assess technical issues, provide solutions, and support technician development.
  • Review cases off schedule each morning and implement corrective actions to meet deadlines.
  • Collaborate with the Logistics department to ensure timely case delivery.
  • Coordinate with other production departments to maintain case quality and schedule adherence.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain familiarity with dental terminology and job-specific acronyms.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Adhere to all company policies as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Follow the weekly maintenance and cleaning schedule established by the Director of Operations.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 5 years’ experience in dental implant technology.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proven leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with various departments.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology and implant systems.
     Proficient with production tracking and quality control systems.
