Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform oral health assessments including dental charting, X-ray reviews, and initial patient screening.
  • Conduct teeth cleanings, apply sealants, administer fluoride treatments, and perform other preventive dental care.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene strategies, including brushing, flossing, and nutritional counseling.
  • Assist dentists with procedures and provide oral health care education and counseling to patients.
  • Update patient records and document patient care services by charting in patient records.
  • Manage infection control - clean and sterilize instruments and equipment after every use.
  • Adhere to professional standards, policies, and procedures, as well as federal, state, and local requirements, updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and continuing education.

Requirements

  • Current state licensure as a Dental Hygienist and compliance with any applicable state or federal guidelines.
  • Certification in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
  • Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with patients and staff.
  • Attention to detail for thorough and precise treatments and documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain effective rapport with patients, dentists, other hygienists, and assistants.
  • A patient and friendly approach, able to work in a team and respect for patients' confidentiality.
  • Commitment to continued education in dental practices and staying up-to-date with advancements in the field.
